Every time we see you, we will check for signs of gum disease. We may be able to help you correct early gum disease by advising you how to improve your home dental care regimen.
If gum disease progresses from gingivitis (early gum disease) to periodontitis (advanced gum disease), we can help by cleaning away tartar from under the gumline. This procedure is called scaling. We can also provide root planing, which smooths any irregular areas on the roots that might harbor bacteria that cause gum disease.
Treatment of this type is referred to as periodontics. It’s another way that Dr. Shevchenko and her team help you keep your teeth and your whole mouth healthy.
